The Monastic Community

Bhikkhunī Tisaranī

Ayya lives in Sirisampanno Monastery since 2015. She went for refuge in the Mahayana tradition in 1997 and went into homelessness in 2011 with her family's permission. Among other things, she lived and practiced intensively in a natural garden for one year. The following years she practiced in Germany, France and Thailand.

Ordination as Samaneri took place on the 23rd of March 2019 in the Theravada tradition in Sri Lanka, in the presence of 30 fully ordained monks and 10 nuns.

She received Upasampada, full ordination as a bhikkhuni, from Venerable Ayya Tathālokā Maha Theri on the 19th of Sept. 2021 at Aranya Bodhi Hermitage in California.

Sāmanerī Sirinandā

She has been part of the monastic community since January 2021.

She came into contact with the Dhamma in 2014 and has since practiced in monasteries of the Theravada tradition in Germany.

In 2019, the wish arose in her to leave the lay life. After a year of training as an Anagarikā at Sirisampanno Monastery, she received the Samaneri ordination from Ayya Sucinta on the 2nd of April 2022.

Samaneri Tissā

In 2019, Tissa came into contact with the Buddhist teachings. One year later she took refuge in Buddha, Dhamma, Sangha with a sincere commitment to practice the five Silas, and later the eight Silas. The contact with the teachings of the Buddha profoundly transformed her life and she practiced with great devotion and desire to fully dedicate herself to the Dhamma. Her trust in Buddha, Dhamma, Sangha eventually led her to monastic life.

She received Samaneri ordination on the 7th of December, 2023, and is now part of the monastic community.
